The following resolution was passed at the Special Vestry Meeting held on January 14, 2018:
Be it resolved that
a) The Sechelt Parish of the Anglican Church (St. Hilda's) proceed with the rebuilding of the Sanctuary as recommended by the Building Committee at a budgeted cost of $900,000, with an expected completion by the Summer of 2018, to be paid by combination of existing parish funds, future donations, and short term and long term borrowing. The total of the amount borrowed will not exceed $500,000.
b) St. Hilda's will commence a vision and feasibility study for redevelopment, with partners, of the remainder of its property by the Fall of 2018.
c) The Vestry requests the Trustees and Church Committee take all necessary steps and actions to proceed with the foregoing.
Following the passing of the resolution, David Rushton offered some words of encouragement through a recorded video clip, drawing on his past experience helping congregations raising funds for restoration and mission. There will be a Planned Giving Workshop facilitated by Legacy Gift Planner Dr. Eduard Fidler on January 21 at 11:30 am. The Rector called on parishioners to consider prayerfully to support the upcoming Capital Campaign as well as the Vision and Feasibility Study for Redevelopment. The meeting was concluded by members of the Vestry praying the Doxology :
Glory to God, whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.
