St. Hilda's is hosting a dialogue circle with multi-JUNOs and Western Canadian Music awards musician Steve Bell this coming Wednesday, April 24, at 7 - 9 pm.
The Rector has been following Steve's music since 1998 . Over the years Clarence has known Steve not only as a terrific folk/gospel musician but also an activist (or he called himself "a troubadour") from Treaty One territory of his hometown Winnipeg who has been passionate on indigenous justice. An example would be his recent blog:
Blog: A Citizen's Response to Senator Plett
Steve has been invited by some other local churches to give a concert at Raven Cry Theatre this Thursday night in support of RainCity Sechelt Shelter. We are delighted that Steve has agreed to make time to meet with local supporters of indigenous justice in a dialogue circle to share our experiences in decolonizing ourselves, our churches, and our communities.
We want to acknowledge with gratitude the local churches that help bring Steve to Sechelt this week. Many thanks to Calvary Baptist Church, Christ the King Church, Christian Life Assembly, Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, Grace Covenant Church, Pender Harbour Community Church, Crossroads Community Church and Bethel Baptist Church.
